How Long Can I Visit Canada?

Most visitors to Canada can stay for up to 6 months. When you arrive, the border services officer at the port of entry will determine how long you can stay. They might allow you to stay for less or more than 6 months, and they will mark the date you must leave Canada in your passport or give you a document called a visitor record. For more details, visit the official IRCC website.

If there is no stamp in your passport, you can stay for 6 months from the date you entered Canada or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. If you need a stamp, you can ask a border officer for one. At airports with kiosks, you should ask for a stamp after you finish at the kiosk. More information can be found here.

If you wish to stay longer than the permitted duration, you must apply for an extension at least 30 days before your allowed stay ends. Learn more about the extension process here.
