They are released only as hard copies in a sealed envelope stamped and signed across the back flap — the university has no electronic or PDF transcript facility. Through FACTS, priority cases are typically completed within 5 to 10 working days. This surprises a lot of applicants, so it is worth being plain about it. Bangalore University does not print a separate transcript document the way many universities abroad do. An official Bangalore University transcript is a set of photocopies of your own marks cards and degree certificate, each attested and stamped by the university, then sealed in an envelope.
Each sheet carries the university stamp, the OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT mark, and the attestation of the Registrar (Evaluation), Pareeksha Bhavana, Jnana Bharathi. That attestation is what gives the photocopy its legal standing. The envelope is then stamped and signed across the back flap.
So if a stack of stamped photocopies arrives rather than a printed record, nothing has gone wrong — that is the correct and complete document. It is the format WES, IQAS, ICES, CES, ECE and universities abroad expect from Indian institutions.
If you graduated before July 2017, read this before you apply anywhere. Bangalore University was divided into three universities in 2017 and colleges were reassigned by Assembly constituency. Applying to the wrong one is the most common reason Bangalore University transcript applications are returned at the counter.
Under the Karnataka State Universities (Amendment) Act, Bangalore University was trifurcated with effect from 1 July 2017. At the time it affiliated more than 600 colleges and served over three lakh students, making it one of the largest universities in Asia. Because colleges were divided by Assembly constituency, two colleges a few kilometres apart in Bengaluru can now sit under different universities.

The working principle is that your records stay with the university that conducted your examinations. If Bangalore University set and marked your papers before the split, your file is normally handled at Jnanabharathi, even if the college you attended is today affiliated to Bengaluru City University or Bengaluru North University.
We state this from our own day to day experience at the university rather than as an official published rule. Karnataka has not issued a single consolidated public notification covering every category of pre-2017 graduate, and autonomous colleges are handled differently again.

Look at the bottom of any one of your marks cards. The name printed as the issuing authority is the university that conducted your examination, and that is where your record sits. If the marks card is faded or you are unsure, send us a photograph and we will confirm free of charge before you apply.
Several websites advertise electronic or instant PDF transcripts for Bangalore University. That facility does not exist here. As of July 2026 the university releases transcripts only as physical documents in a sealed envelope, stamped and signed across the back flap by the authorised officer, and has not announced an electronic transcript service.
What is available is email verification. Where an evaluation body or overseas university writes to the university to confirm your record directly, the university can respond by email. We arrange and follow up that verification in approximately 5 working days. It supplements the sealed envelope; it does not replace it.
If a provider offers you a same day PDF transcript from Bangalore University, ask them which office issues it.
Two steps cause nearly all the difficulty. Step 3 needs physical access to your old college, which is hard if you have moved abroad or the college has closed. Step 6 requires an officer to pull your record, and older records mean an archive search.

FACTS does not require your original documents. Clear scanned colour copies of your marks cards and degree certificate are sufficient for us to process your application.
FACTS does not issue transcripts. Bangalore University does. We prepare, file and follow up the application under your written authorisation, and arrange dispatch of the sealed envelope the university produces.
Bangalore University has been examining students since 1964. Recent results sit in digital systems. Older results sit in bound examination ledgers, and retrieving them means an officer locating the correct volume and verifying your marks by hand, subject by subject.
This is the single largest variable in how long a transcript takes. A priority case with complete, recent records is usually processed within 5 to 10 working days. Files requiring archive tracing typically run to approximately 15 to 25 working days, and occasionally longer where a ledger has to be traced across a departmental move.
What makes an old file harder: faded marks cards where the register number is illegible; multiple register numbers from changed colleges, repeated years or supplementary attempts; course names that have since been renamed; and colleges that have closed. None of these prevent issuance, but all of them need flagging at the start rather than discovering midway.
Many colleges affiliated to Bangalore University hold autonomous status. An autonomous college sets and conducts its own examinations and issues its own marks cards, under a degree awarded by the affiliating university. In practice the transcript is normally issued by the college examination office rather than by the Registrar (Evaluation), even though your degree certificate says Bangalore University.
Check the header and the authorising signature on your marks card. If it was issued by your college and signed by its Controller of Examinations or Principal, your examinations were conducted by the college. Autonomy is also date sensitive, so a graduate from before the college gained autonomy may sit under the university while a later graduate from the same college sits under the college.
Bangalore University does not publish a single public list of currently autonomous affiliated colleges with the dates autonomy took effect. Rather than publish a list we cannot stand behind, we check your specific college and year when you send your marks card.
Nearly all of these bodies share one requirement: the sealed envelope must travel from the university to them without passing through your hands. Where they differ is in the paperwork that accompanies it.
WES requires marks sheets issued and attested by the institution that conducted the examinations, sent directly to WES in a sealed envelope signed or stamped across the back flap by the authenticating officer. WES does not accept documents forwarded by colleges, students or agents, and has applied this rule without exception to applications received on or after 1 December 2018. Generate your WES reference number before dispatch, because the envelope cannot be matched to your file without it.
The Canadian assessment bodies apply the same sealed envelope principle with minor differences in the covering documentation and in how the reference number is quoted.
Educational Credential Evaluators requires the sealed envelope directly from the university. NCEES, for engineering licensure, frequently asks for course by course records and syllabus documentation, which is a separate request to the university.
German applications usually require APS certification, and ZAB verification where recognition of the degree itself is in question. Both involve the university responding to correspondence, which is where the email verification route matters.
ECCTIS for the United Kingdom and NZQA for New Zealand run their own verification correspondence with the university. PEBC and NDEB require transcripts sent directly by the university, commonly with a curriculum document alongside. Dataflow is the usual route for Gulf healthcare and professional licensing.
Opening the sealed envelope to check its contents invalidates it for every evaluation body without exception. If you want to know what is inside, ask for a scanned copy at the time of issuance, not by opening the seal.

You do not need to be in Bengaluru, and you do not need to send original documents anywhere. Send clear scans of all marks cards and your degree certificate, a copy of your passport, a signed authorisation letter which we provide as a template, and your evaluation body reference number if the envelope is going directly to WES or similar.
Two problems catch overseas applicants. The first is college attestation, since Bangalore University requires the application to be forwarded by your affiliated college and you cannot walk into your old college from Toronto. The second is the temptation to have the sealed envelope couriered to you. If your destination is WES or another evaluation body, do not do this. It must arrive directly from the university, so having it sent to your home address abroad and posting it on means paying for the whole process twice.
Inside the university, files stall for four reasons: a ledger discrepancy where a name, subject or mark does not match the university record; archive retrieval where the volume has to be found; signatory availability, since envelopes cannot be sealed without the authorised officer; and examination season, when the evaluation branch prioritises live examination work.
