JNTU Kakinada issues transcripts in two formats, and which one you receive depends on how old your record is.
For recent graduates, JNTUK prints a formatted transcript on a single consolidated sheet. Your semester-wise results are compiled into the university's own printed transcript format, carrying the university stamp and the attestation of the Directorate of Evaluation, and this single sheet is the transcript.
For older students, where the record has to be traced from earlier examination data, the university instead issues attested copies of your mark sheets and degree certificate. Each sheet is stamped and attested by the evaluation branch, and that attestation is what gives the copies their legal standing. This is the same format most Indian universities use for archived records.
In both cases the document is sealed in an envelope, stamped and signed across the back flap, which is the seal WES and other evaluation bodies check. So whether you receive a single printed sheet or a set of stamped mark sheets and degree copies, nothing has gone wrong — both are the correct and complete official transcript, and both are the format WES, IQAS, ICES, CES, ECE and universities abroad expect from Indian institutions.
If your college is in the northern coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh, read this before you apply anywhere. In 2022 the colleges around Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam were moved to a new university, JNTU-Gurajada Vizianagaram (JNTU-GV). Applying to the wrong university is a common reason JNTUK transcript applications are delayed.
JNTU Kakinada was itself created in 2008, when the erstwhile Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (founded 1972) was reorganised into three separate universities — JNTU Hyderabad, JNTU Kakinada and JNTU Anantapur — under the JNTU Act 2008. In January 2022 the Government of Andhra Pradesh carved the JNTUK campus and colleges at Vizianagaram into an independent university, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Gurajada, Vizianagaram (JNTU-GV), covering the north coastal districts.
The working principle is that your records stay with the university that conducted your examinations. If JNTU Kakinada set and marked your papers, your file is normally handled at Kakinada, even if the college you attended now falls under JNTU-GV or has since become autonomous.
We state this from our own day to day experience with the university rather than as a single published rule, because Andhra Pradesh has reorganised both universities and districts in recent years and categories of graduate are handled differently.

The original Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (founded 1972, Hyderabad) was split in 2008 into three independent universities, each with its own examination branch, transcript process and administrative office. A fourth was added in 2022. If you apply to the wrong university, your application will be returned — and this happens regularly.

Check your marks memo. The university name, logo and examination authority are printed at the top. The authorising signature at the bottom identifies the examination branch that holds your record. If the memo says ’Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada’ or carries the JNTUK logo, this page applies to you.
Batch and affiliation matter. Your transcript comes from the university that conducted your examinations, not necessarily the university your college is affiliated to today. What makes an old file harder: faded memos where the hall ticket or roll number is illegible; multiple registration numbers from repeated years, supplementary or revaluation attempts; branch or course names that have since been renamed; and colleges that have closed or moved to another university. None of these prevent issuance, but all of them need flagging at the start rather than discovering midway.
Most credential evaluation bodies require official academic records to come directly from the degree-granting institution. The accepted delivery method — sealed institutional envelope, electronic transmission, or another institutional channel — and the required paperwork vary by organisation. Confirm the current document and delivery requirements with each body before dispatch.
WES requires official academic records from the degree-granting institution that conducted the examinations. Depending on the institution, records may reach WES either in a sealed institutional envelope (signed or stamped across the back flap by the authenticating officer) or through an approved electronic transmission channel. Since December 2018, WES has required that Indian academic records come directly from the institution through an accepted delivery method — not submitted independently by the applicant. Check the Required Documents section of your WES account for current instructions specific to your institution. Generate your WES reference number before dispatch, because documents cannot be matched to your file without it.
Each Canadian assessment body (IQAS, ICES, CES, ICAS) has its own document submission requirements for Indian institutions, including accepted delivery methods and covering documentation. Educational Credential Evaluators requires the sealed envelope directly from the university. NCEES, for engineering licensure, frequently asks for course by course records and syllabus documentation, which is a separate request to the university — relevant to many JNTUK engineering graduates.
German applications usually require APS certification, and ZAB verification where recognition of the degree itself is in question. Both involve the university responding to correspondence.
ECCTIS for the United Kingdom and NZQA for New Zealand run their own verification correspondence with the university. Dataflow is the usual route for Gulf healthcare and professional licensing, which applies to many JNTUK pharmacy graduates.

You do not need to be in Kakinada, and you do not usually need to send original documents anywhere. Send clear scans of all marks memos, your consolidated marks memo and your degree or provisional certificate, a copy of your passport, a signed authorisation letter which we provide as a template, and your evaluation body reference number if the envelope is going directly to WES or similar.
Two problems catch overseas applicants. The first is college attestation, since JNTUK requires the application to be attested by your college principal and you cannot walk into your old college from Toronto. The second is the temptation to have the sealed envelope couriered to you. If your destination is WES or another evaluation body, do not do this. It must arrive directly from the university, so having it sent to your home address abroad and posting it on means paying for the whole process twice.
Inside the university, files stall for a few reasons: a discrepancy where a name, subject or mark does not match the university record; archive retrieval where an older result has to be traced; signatory availability, since envelopes cannot be sealed without the authorised officer; and examination season, when the evaluation branch prioritises live examination work.
